I'm calling it The Chronicler. It consists of lengthy, IN REAL LIFE chapters, and short IN THE GAME chapters. "The Game" is called Ebony River Uprising, or ERU. The IRL chapters follow the first person perspective of Anya Holden. ITG chapters follow the third person perspective of Anya's avatar, Ensera. The whole thing takes place in the year 2205.
Here's an excerpt, from an IRL chapter:
'Anyway, none of that matters. What really matters to everyone is ‘Ebony River Uprising’, the most popular role-playing video game of the century. It’s won first prize in the annual Massive-Multiplayer-Online Awards, MMOA, five years in a row by a long shot. Competitors have tried to stomp ERU’s landslide of a profit, but no one has succeeded, or even come close!
'ERU is a unique game in the way that it lets you play. For one thing, you need to buy the extremely expensive console to access the game. Unlike console’s such as the late-time Wii, this one looks like a pair of blue tinted, skiing goggles with large, metal frames. Put these on, power up, and you’re instantly washed into the game of ERU, where you look around as though you were yourself.'
That really lays out the concept of ERU, doesn't it? Anyway, if I ever feel like it, I might post some of the first few chapters here. If you guys want to see them that is.
