NaNoWriMo - 2013, April

It's over...

So I know I'll probably fail at this (yet again), but here I am: crazy and trying again :)

Last November I nearly finished my novel A Glass Web, and in December I wrote the last word! ^_^ Now I'm getting help editing it, having long phone conversations with my writing/editing buddy a few states away (sadly) as I help her complete her novel.

During April, I plan to get a huge part if not completely finish AGW's sequel: A Dark Web.

Here's a quick synopsis of book one:
-- Twenty years earlier, the country of Saoria suffered from a large war, called the Final War. It was caused by a mysterious army that invaded from over the mountains bordering the north. Their Magic Users (for a short explanation: like "wizards") generated massive spells powered by a large stone crystal called a Variance. The end of the war was marked by the capture of the Variance, but four years later it went missing.
Now it follows the perspective of the main character, Eir Baskerville, a sixteen year old Corporal at the military academy, Saorm. It begins with Eir coming upon a scene: finding the missing Variance and everyone around it dead. There the mystery begins to unfold as Eir learns more about the Variance that no one else ever knew. She learns of a battle between the Oracles, ethereal beings that represent different aspects and emotions of life, that involves her more than she knows.
At the end of the book Eir must run away, for Saorm is hunting her for something she had no choice but to do.

Now it picks up in book two:
-- Eir has been on the run for two weeks, and at last she arrives at Pearlport, the largest harbor of Saoria. There she meets Abram and Keidren. Back at Saorm, Eir's other friends, Talen Dashwood and Clover Davenport, are struggling with Talen and Levan's secret, something caused by Eir's choices beforehand (book one reference).
In hope to save Levana, Eir goes with Abram and Keidren across the South Sea to the recently discovered land of Narvina, but instead they go beyond the growing country's borders: to the homeland of all magic, where Eir learns the secret of the Oracles. (NaNo page - stats.)

DUN DUN DUN DUNNNNNN.

I know it may be super confusing to you who is reading this, but here's something else:
Book one - lots of fighting, mystery, relationship issues, comedy (I would hope :3)
Book two - fighting, travel, horror (plague wise, nothing like... Paranormal Activity or something), love triangle (:3), death in the end (*cries*, a hard decision but it must be done).
Novel tease XD (I made it)

The series is titled The Variance's.

Here are some of the characters:

Eir Baskerville
Levana Castleton
(Her hair should be a shade darker, but I made this very early on before I realized that I had too many blonde characters.)
Clover Davenport
(She was blonde at one point.)
Talen Dashwood
(You can probably tell I didn't make this one. I don't know where it's from (some anime - I don't own it), but it cannot show what Talen looks like more perfectly unless I some how literally pulled him from my imagination. Just fyi.)
Eir and Levana at the Midsummer's Ball
(Yes, there is a ball; yes, it is a masquerade. Ignore the elf ears!)

Oh, here's another note:
I'm studying to be a professional editor. Well, I say "studying", I mean teaching myself. I look at my own writing like it's someone else's writing, and make notes on everything wrong. As I mentioned, I'm helping my friend edit her novel, I edit a lot of Figment too (I'm doing a serious editing on someone's novel in progress there too, they asked for it).
I may only be a student still, but I want to be an author and editor (that's about half of my dream), so I'm open to reading anyone's if they want me too! I would love to help with grammar, spelling, and/or genreal confusion (I call those "nice edits"), but if you want more I can do my best :) (what I call "applied edits").

That's all!
I hope to get these published someday, so you're just lucky if you read this! XD
Good luck writing!!
